Prosecutors Alliance Action Executive Director Cristine Soto DeBerry issued the following statement on today’s report that U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi is expected to establish a “Weaponization Working Group” to review cases against President Trump, including those brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James:
“If AG Bondi wants to review examples of ‘politicized justice,’ she need only look at the first three weeks of the second Trump administration. We have never seen politicization at this scale in the history of the U.S. justice system. President Trump has quickly turned DOJ from an institution that promotes safety and justice into a weapon to investigate and punish political opponents and intimidate prosecutors from holding powerful people accountable.
These fear tactics won’t stop courageous independent prosecutors like DA Bragg and AG James, whose loyalty is to the law, while AG Bondi’s loyalty is clearly to Trump. We must stand with these brave leaders and ensure that they can continue to hold the powerful accountable, even if they are the President of the United States.”
