Prosecutors Alliance Action Executive Director Cristine Soto Deberry issued the following statement on today’s Alameda County Board of Supervisors meeting regarding the recall of District Attorney Pamela Price:
“Given the mixed enforcement of contradictory county charter and state law regarding recalls, there is legitimate reason to question the legality of the recall of District Attorney Pamela Price. Considering the thin margin of eligible signatures submitted, we encourage the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to do its due diligence and ensure a review of the signature collection and the Registrar of Voters’ processes. If a recall election is to be held, the Board should do the right thing and save taxpayers millions by putting the recall election on the November ballot. This will ensure that the most voters possible will have their voice heard in this important decision about the future of public safety in the county.”
